4-15-23 Vayetze: "And he left"

Updated: Oct 18, 2023

Genesis 28:10-32:2 - Messiah is found in Vayetze!

Messiah is found in Jacob's dream!

Genesis 28:12 - And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of Elohiym ascending and descending on it.

John 1:51 - And he saith unto him, Amein, Amein, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of Elohiym ascending and descending upon the Son of A'dam.

Messiah is found in Judah!

Genesis 29:35 - And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, "Now will I praise the LORD ": therefore, she called his name Judah; and left bearing.

When Judah is born, he is named a name that is rooted purely in worship and thanksgiving to the LORD for His goodness. His name was unlike his brothers' names who were named referencing the contest for Jacob's love. When Messiah was given by the Father, He was done so without spite or challenge - He was given wholly in love.

Messiah is found in Joseph as a type & shadow!

Genesis 30:22-24 - And Elohiym remembered Rachel, and Elohiym hearkened to her, and opened her womb. And she conceived, and bare a son; and said, Elohiym hath taken away my reproach: And she called his name Joseph; and said, the LORD shall add to me another son.

Rachel was barren and Mary was a virgin; both conceived by the intervention of the Holy Spirit.

Messiah is found in the number 3 in Torah!

The binding of Isaac!

Going a 3 days' journey to sacrifice your "one and only son" only to have Almighty God stop you and provide the lamb.

Jacob chooses his flock!

Jacob, Israel, is a Messiah-type. He chose for his own the flock that was speckled, spotted, and brown, not white. These were the ones that were valued least because they were not unblemished.

Jacob flees Laban!

The 3rd day is the day of resurrection and new life.

Jacob had lived in Padam-Aram with hardships and idolators in the house of his father-in-law. Jacob broke free on the 3rd day and by the 7th day (a week, representing completion), he was in the mountains of Gilead, on the border of Canaan.

This is a mirror of our own redemption from sin, death and all the power of Satan in Messiah!
